New for 2022! Artist and illustrator Charles de Sousy Ricketts (1866-1931) was perhaps best known for his work designing costumes and scenery for the theatre. He designed the settings for plays by writers including Oscar Wilde and George Bernard Shaw, as well as the fantastical scenery for Maurice Maeterlinck's The Betrothal, plans which are now in the collection of The Fitzwilliam Museum.
